Save Oval Streets is made up of Residents’ Associations, representatives from estates, and volunteers from the Oval Triangle. We are very open to working with more groups both from the Triangle itself and outside.
Save Oval Streets currently consists of the following groups (in alphabetical order):
- Albert Square and St Stephen’s Association (ASSA)
- Fentiman and Richborne Residents’ Association (FARA)
- IMPACT (for people living in Meadow Road, Palfrey Place, and Ashmole, Claylands and Trigon Roads)
- TARA (for people living in Tradescant Road, Walberswick Street, Meadow Place, Old South Lambeth Road, Heyford Terrace, Heyford Avenue, and the western end of Dorset Road)
We are working with Hanover Gardens Residents’ Association and representatives from the area’s estates, including Ashmole and South Lambeth. and we are talking to representatives from the Mursell Estate. We also work closely with our supporters, among them Lambeth Cyclists, LambethLivingStreets, Mums for Lungs and Tactical Urbanistas. We also collaborate with individuals as and when required.
Between us, we host the Oval to Stockwell section of Cycleway 5.
We came into being in 2017 at a time when local concerns about air and noise pollution, congestion, speeding, dangerous driving and rat-running and the impact they were having on the Triangle had reached new heights. This followed TfL changes to junctions at the Oval and Stockwell.
That said, many of our members have been campaigning for better traffic management - and monitoring and even counting vehicles at strategic junctions - for much longer.
